President Yoweri Museveni has admonished individuals harbouring   aspirations for the expeditious demise of his government, urging them to abandon such impractical notions. He asserted that their anticipation of its downfall will result in a substantial letdown, emphasizing the government’s growing strength.

In his address during the Patriotism Corps ceremony at the Kololo Independence Grounds, President Museveni advised those contemplating succession plans to redirect their efforts, emphasizing the enduring presence and resilience of the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Expressing empathy for those with antipathy towards the NRM, the president likened the party to sere (blackjack), a persistent weed found in many Ugandan gardens. Illustrating the indomitable nature of the NRM, he emphasized, “You can’t get rid of it.”

President Museveni, centering his discourse on the significance of patriotic sentiments, extended gratitude to the Patriotism Secretariat, housed under the Office of the President. The Secretariat, established in 2009 under Maj. Gen. Grace Matsiko, was commended for fostering a foundation in patriotism education.

Encouraging a profound love for Uganda, especially among wealth creators, the president drew from his experiences as a farmer producing beef, matooke, and milk. He acknowledged the collaborative support of fellow Ugandans in his enterprise, underlining the interconnectedness of prosperity with the shared efforts of the nation. Emphasizing the need to love both the country and its citizens, President Museveni elucidated that this sentiment is not only a moral imperative but also a pragmatic approach to securing individual prosperity.
