Real Stars Awards Nominees Announced: Celebrating Excellence on Uganda’s Sports Scene

Real Stars Awards nominees of April 2023 have been released, the awards ceremony will be held at Lazio Restaurant in Naguru on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. These monthly awards are sponsored by Jude Colour Solutions and the betting company Fortebet.

On Tuesday, May 9, 2023, the Fortebet Real Stars monthly awards presentation will honour the outstanding sports figures for the month of April, the athletes are from six different sports disciplines. These include basketball, golf, rugby, cricket, netball, and five other sports.

Football:

Football nominations include Tony Kiberu (NEC), Charles Bbaale (Sports Club Villa), and Shakirah Nyinagahirwa (Kawempe Muslim Women Football Club).

With 12 goals, Nyinagahirwa led the FUFA Women super league and was named the league’s Most Valuable Player (MVP).

In the past month, Bbaale has been in fine form for Sports Club Villa, scoring important goals for the team against Soltilo Bright Stars, KCCA, Wakiso Giants, and most recently Vipers.

Kiberu scored four goals in four games for NCE in the FUFA Big league against Booma, Northern Gateway, Kaaro Karungi, and Adjumani.

Golf:

The Real Stars Sports Agency has selected three players from the national junior golf team as some of the top athletes for the month of April 2023.

The three golfers on the short list are Abdul Kakeeto, Juma Abiti, and team leader Joseph Reagan Akena.

Together with Ibrahim Ssemakula, they are credited with leading Uganda to the 2023 Toyota Junior World Cup in Japan.

Rugby:

Rugby nominees include Sydney Gongodyo (Black Pirates), Pius Ogena (Kobs), and Aaron Ofoywoth (Rugby Cranes Sevens).

Cricket:

Janet Mbabazi, Consy Aweko, and Kevin Awino, the three members of the Victoria Pearls, are all nominees.

Netball:

Shadia Nassanga of the KCCA and Margret Bagala (National Insurance Corporation) are also on the short list, along with sharpshooter Christine Namulumba Kango of the newly crowned Uganda Prisons Netball club.

Basketball:

The three basketball players nominated are Rual Luak and Fayed Bbaale of the City Oilers, Sarah Ageno of the JT Lady Jaguars, and Sarah Ageno.
