Doo Technologies, led by CEO Dhruv Thakkar, will unveil a state-of-the-art smart lighting system at the Homes and Construction Expo 2023 taking place from 25th -26th November. This innovative solution will allow users to control home lighting via smartphones, featuring programmable switches, customizable scenarios, and voice command integration for a seamless and energy-efficient experience.

A trailblazer in the realm of smart home solutions, the company introduces a cutting-edge lighting system that empowers individuals to effortlessly control their home lighting on their smartphones.

Thakkar says the design philosophy behind their revolutionary lighting system is crafted to seamlessly respond to the user’s commands through a user-friendly mobile interface. The programmable nature of the switches and sockets has a feature that adds an extra layer of convenience.

Through the application, users can schedule specific times for switches and sockets to activate or deactivate. Thakkar shares a personal example, expressing how he utilises the scene function to execute a pre-programmed series of activities with a single touch. This includes tasks like boiling water and activating office lights, streamlining his daily routine.

The scene function extends further, allowing users to set customised scenarios for specific areas of their home. For instance, with a single touch, all the lights in the house can be activated simultaneously. Doo Technologies underscores the innovation’s dual purpose of enhancing security and conserving energy. The system allows for strategic programming, enabling lights in different sections of the home to turn on or off at specified times, not only saving energy but also serving as a security feature.

In addition to its multi-functionality, the lighting system contributes to energy efficiency by automatically powering down switches when not in use. “Initially, I struggled with the habit of forgetting to turn off the water heater after use. However, with a simple click of a button today, I can effortlessly ensure it is switched off,” Thakkar says. The switches are available in models of six, two, and four, each programmable to perform specific tasks such as activating appliances like water boilers or irons. A noteworthy feature is the built-in power surge protection, guarding against electrical shocks caused by high voltage fluctuations.

The integration of voice command technology further elevates the user experience. The switches seamlessly respond to voice assistants like Alexa, Siri, and Google, offering hands-free control and adding an extra dimension of accessibility. The system also caters to the dynamics of a household. As long as one phone is registered to the controlling application, the rest of the household occupants can be granted rights to operate the switches, ensuring a harmonious and user-friendly experience for all.

With a fee of sh10, 000, expo goers stand the chance to interact with exhibitors like Doo, attend free training sessions on matters of land acquisition, architecture, building standards and home furnishings and interior décor.
