Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations Gen. Muhoozi visits Somalia
Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations Gen. @mkainerugaba is in Mogadishu, Somalia where he met the President of Somalia, H.E Hassan Mohamud yesterday 7th June 2023. The visit comes after the attack by Al-shabaab terrorists on the UPDF base in Buulo Mareer where 54 soldiers were killed.
The president of Somalia, H.E Hassan Mohamud, and Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the senior presidential advisor for special operations, met yesterday 7th June 2023 in Mogadishu, Somalia.
According to a tweet from the president of Somalia, “Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Senior Advisor for Special Operations for President @KagutaMuseveni, met with H.E. President @Hassan Mohamud yesterday 7th June 2023 in Villa Somalia.”
Gen. Kainerugaba reportedly informed his Somalese colleague of the message from President Museveni, according to the communication.
Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba delivered a message from President Yoweri Museveni about working together to combat terrorism. According to the message, the President voiced his condemnation of the most recent Buulo Mareer attack on Ugandan African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) personnel, his sympathies to the families of the fallen heroes, and his appreciation to the Ugandan people and government for their ongoing support of Somalia’s security.
Maj. Gen. Nathan Mugisha, Uganda’s acting ambassador to Somalia was also present.
President Museveni recently announced that 54 soldiers were killed on May 26, 2023, when Al-Shabab attacked the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).
