Karuma Dam Power Project Set for September 2024 Commissioning

The Karuma Hydroelectric Station is initially expected to be completed by 2018, is set for commissioning by September 2024. Currently, four out of six units are operational, with full functionality expected after the sixth unit is completed by the end of 2024. The project aims to meet increasing electricity demand. Once finished, Uganda’s installed electricity capacity is projected to reach 2000 MW.

President Museveni Is Back Home After a Two-Day Working Visit to UAE

President Museveni concluded a two-day visit to the UAE, engaging in diplomatic discussions with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The talks focused on bolstering bilateral relations, exploring investment opportunities in Uganda’s economy, and discussing renewable energy. The UAE ruler accepted an invitation to the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit in Uganda.

Northern Corridor States meet in Kampala to Discuss Regional Road and Rail Initiatives

 Member states of the Northern Corridor Transit and Transport Agreement (NCTTA) involving Uganda, Kenya, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo met on Monday 13th November 2023 to discuss Infrastructure projects, including the Standard Gauge Railway and Regional Road Projects. 

Uganda’s Milk Secures Algerian Approval

A $500 million market opportunity in Algeria has been identified, and partnerships with Algerian experts are underway. Algeria is keen on importing milk from Uganda, with officials approving the venture. Uganda, producing 3.85 million litres of milk while consuming 800 million litres, is exploring avenues like exports and processing surplus milk.
