Tanzanian Singer Diamond Platnumz set to Perform in Uganda on July 14th
Tanzanian singer and dancer Diamond Platnumz is set to perform in Uganda for the fourth time at a show organized by Comedy Store Uganda. The event aims to raise funds for Comedy Store Uganda, which has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and economic challenges. The upcoming show will also feature other East African artists, including Nameless from Kenya and Bruce Melodie from Rwanda. The two-hour performance by Diamond Platnumz is expected to be energetic and captivating. The event is being produced by Fenon Events.
The singer, dancer and the founder of Wasafi Record Label Diamond Platinumz, 2015 MTV Africa Music Award (MAMA) winner, whose 2023 release Yatapita has gained wide popularity, will be performing in Uganda at Kololo Airstrip in Kampala on July 14 2023. This is his first time since his enthralling Comedy Store showcase in July 2019, which many praised for being amazing and energizing. Prior to it, he had only visited Uganda twice, in 2014 and 2017.
Diamond Platnumz, a Tanzanian singing sensation and one of Africa’s most well-known artists, will be the headlining act at a show put on by Comedy Store Uganda on his fourth appearance in the country.
The upcoming show is a fundraiser, according to Alex Muhangi, CEO of Comedy Store Uganda, and it will hopefully be the company’s lifeboat after the COVID-19 brunt and the horrific effects that the entertainment industry has endured following a two-year lockdown and the subsequent economic pinch brought on by inflation.
“We’re thrilled that Diamond Platnumz is coming back. When Comedy Store hosted him during his earlier visit to Uganda, he had a blast. He was moved by the kindness he experienced. And his performance was a complete success with the audience. And he’s guaranteed that this time would be even better,” Alex Muhangi remarked.
Since the beginning of the year, Comedy Store reduced its frequency from a weekly show to holding one show a month.
“The entertainment sector, especially events, is yet to recover from the ravages of COVID-19. Interestingly, the cost of everything else has been hiked, except for ticket fees to concerts. Yet our clients no longer have as much money at their disposal due to the general economic conditions,” he said, adding; “We hope this fundraiser can help us get back on track and provide the much-needed impetus for Comedy Store Foundation to execute its projects many of which are focused on skilling the youths”.
His catalog of popular songs so far includes Waah! Jeje, African Beauty, Tetema, Kanyaga, Inama, Mtasubiri, Marry You, Number One, Salome and Nana among others. During his 17-year singing career, he has collaborated with the crème de la crème of the industry including Rick Ross, Morgan Heritage, Omarion, Davido, P Square, Ne-Yo, Tiwa Savage, Koffi Olomide, Fally Ipupa, Adekunle Gold and Focalist among others.
The July 14 show will also feature other East African stars such as Nameless (Kenya) famed for hits like Sinzia, Inspire and Boomba Train. Rwanda’s Bruce Melodie known for hit songs like Katapilla, Saa Moya, Nyoola and Sawa Sawa is also lined up to perform. Platnumz is performing for two full hours, which gives his fans and lovers of thrilling performances an idea of what to expect. Fenon Events will be producing the show.
