The release of Apple Music Replay has not yet included Spotify Wrapped
Apple Music Replay, Apple’s version of Spotify Wrapped, is now available at replay.music.apple.com. Unlike Spotify’s personalized and shareable experiences, Apple’s review focuses on conventional metrics, offering Year-End charts and top 100 listener rankings for artists or genres.
Apple Music Replay, the company’s year-end review and response to Spotify Wrapped, is now available, but it still can’t compete with Spotify’s individualized retrospective of your musical year. The Apple experience, accessible through replay.music.apple.com, is a URL that will display your favorite albums, artists, songs, genres, and other details about your music preferences in 2023. What Apple’s experience lacks, in contrast to Spotify’s Wrapped, is the development of distinctive, shareable experiences, such as Spotify’s “Audio Aura” in 2021 or its “Listening Personality” feature in 2022.
These kinds of features play into listeners’ self-esteem and curiosity about their relative standing among other Spotify users. Additionally, they are made specifically for social media sharing. For example, each of the “Listening Personalities” from the previous year received a vibrant card that they could share with friends or upload to an app like Instagram Stories. They follow prevailing cultural trends, are visually striking, and are usually enjoyable.
In contrast, Apple’s year-end review is based on more conventional metrics. This year, Apple Music subscribers can check the Year-End charts, which are mostly predictable, and see if they rank among the top 100 listeners of their preferred artist or genre. (For instance, Taylor Swift is the Artist of the Year on Apple Music.) The chart data displays the top songs of the year on Shazam and Apple Music, as well as, for the first time, the songs that gained the most popularity on Apple Music Sing, the service’s sing-along feature akin to karaoke.

With Replay’s playlists, users can also access their own personalized top 100 song charts for each year in which they meet the requirements. Additionally, Apple Music subscribers have year-round access to Replay, in contrast to Wrapped, which is aimed to be a more topical retrospective at a specific moment in time intended to go viral on social media for a limited time.
Users must sign in with their Apple Music ID at replay.music.apple.com in order to access Replay. Although Apple’s insights are also designed to be shared via messaging or social media, they lack the inventiveness, energy, and originality of Spotify’s annual features, which also change from year to year, leaving users wondering what will be included in the next Wrapped.
However, it’s important to note that Apple Music released its feature slightly before Spotify, presumably in an attempt to gain an advantage over other music-related social media sharing in 2023.
