Developers are constantly coming up with new ways to make taking notes fast and easy. The “DM-to-self” interface created by Techstars-backed Stashpad allows developers to quickly take notes and arrange them at a later time. Similar note-taking principles can be found in Qept, an iOS app suitable for a wide range of users.
Now, Nicolas Bichon’s Type, a new Mac app, uses the idea of a command bar to allow you to scribble down any ideas you may have.

At launch, the type is basic: To launch the app and record ideas, you can set up a customizable keyboard shortcut. Every note has a timestamp automatically attached so you can better understand it later.
“My goal was to develop a command bar application that would enable me to take notes while working remotely, without having to open a text file, and maintain focus on my work,” Bichon emailed TechCrunch. “I was used to taking notes in text files (something to discuss in my next 1-1, tweet ideas, etc.).

All of the notes are stored in a text file that you can export or send, as Bichon says. If you want to give it a structure more akin to a folder, you can create a new file. Type costs $3.99 in its entirety, with no further in-app purchases.
Although there aren’t many features on the app yet, Bichon promised that in the upcoming weeks, users will be able to delete, clear, and search for notes. Next, there will be a new option to keep the app constantly visible on the screen, and users will also be able to export notes.
