With effect from October 19th, 2023, Uganda Airlines was happy to announce the addition of Lagos to its route network, establishing the first direct air connection between Uganda and the greatest economy in Africa. This comes after receiving approvals from Nigerian and Ugandan aviation authorities.

The first-ever flight to Nigeria, UR 900,  arrived at Lagos Murtala Muhammad International Airport at 18.30 hours local time yesterday after leaving Entebbe International Airport at 16.00 hours.

Uganda Airlines will use its 258-seat, state-of-the-art Airbus A330-800 neo to conduct flights to Nigeria three times a week on Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

“Nigeria is Africa’s largest economy while Uganda’s central location on the continent makes it the ideal connection hub between East, West, North and Southern Africa. The direct flights will yield significant time savings for our guests who will be terminating their journeys in Uganda and those who may wish to travel onward within our network to Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Kilimanjaro, Mombasa, Juba, Bujumbura, Kinshasa, Dubai, Mogadishu or Johannesburg and Mumbai,” said Jenifer Bamuturaki the Chief Executive Officer, Uganda Airlines.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is working with Uganda Airlines as a strategic partner to explore the prospects that the new route presents for equitable and sustainable development in the context of trade and tourism. Forty businesswomen in the commerce and tourism sectors are being supported by UNDP to take part in the maiden flight. Facilitating business-to-business connections for export-ready enterprises aiming for the Lagos market and wider West African market is the goal of this help.

Using a specialised Uganda Airlines App, customers may plan their travels from the comfort of their phones and other portable devices, or through our network of travel agencies.

Lagos is the thirteenth stop, following Mumbai, which debuted on October 7th, 2023, in that order.

The flight schedule was arranged to provide as much connectivity as possible to
