Uganda, Iran sign four cooperation agreements as Iranian president visits Uganda
Iranian President H.E Ebrahim Raisi started his two-day state visit to Uganda where he is holding meetings with his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni and set to address a business forum.
President Raisi was received by Museveni at State House Entebbe, where he was given a 21-gun salute.
“The purpose of the visit is to strengthen the excellent bilateral relations between the Republic of Uganda and the Islamic Republic of Iran,” a statement by the Ugandan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The high-ranking officials of Iran and Uganda signed four cooperation documents in the presence of the presidents of the two countries.
The documents signed between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Uganda included visa waiver, agricultural cooperation, establishment of joint permanent commission.
The signing ceremony was held in the presence of the Iranian president Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi and his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi arrived in Uganda on Wednesday at the invitation of his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni.
Raisi was officially welcomed by President Yoweri Museveni at the statehouse Entebbe on Wednesday 12th July 2023 afternoon.
Earlier on Wednesday, Raisi paid a visit to Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. Upon his arrival in the country, William Samui Ruto, President of Kenya welcomed president Raisi and his accompanying delegation officially in the country’s presidential palace.
During Raisi’s visit the high-ranking officials of Iran and Uganda signed 5 cooperation documents in the fields of veterinary medicine, communication, culture, fisheries, and technology.
This is the first trip to Africa by an Iranian president in the past 11 years, according to a report by the Iranian official news agency IRNA.
