Uganda Police Detain ADF Intelligence Officer and Remnant
The territorial police of Rwenzori West and Kitagwenda arrested one Matsiko Farouk, a 27-year-old suspected ADF member, in Rwenzori West and Kitagwenda. He claimed to have been abducted and trained by the ADF before escaping. Another ADF remnant, Komaketch Ransur, was found with live ammunition in Kampala, also claiming to have escaped ADF. Security agencies are actively monitoring ADF elements to protect Ugandans and visitors.
The Territorial Police in Rwenzori West and Kitagwenda have in custody one Matsiko Farouk, a 27-year-old suspected member of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF).
At the time of his arrest, the suspect was residing in Kafunda cell, Ibanda Municipality, where he was allegedly staying, before shifting to Nyanga cell, Mahyoro subcounty in Katagwenda district, for casual work, where the community suspected him of being a wrong person.
From there, the neighborhood called the police, and the suspect was taken into custody.
The arrest was confirmed by Fred Enanga, a police spokesperson. Enanga claimed that after being detained, he acknowledged that he and five other people had been abducted by the ADF in 2015 from the River Nyamwamba in Kasese. They were then taken to the Kilembe highlands of Mount Rwenzori, where they crossed into the Democratic Republic of the Congo and received intelligence officer training.
Enanga stated, “The suspect claims he escaped from the California ADF Camp and returned to his home village at Kafunda cell, Ibanda district. He is well-versed in the areas of Bundibugyo, Bwera, Luwero, and Najjanankumbi.”
In a related development, an 18-year-old ADF remnant named Komaketch Ransur, also known as Kadogo, was discovered to be in possession of live ammunition and is being held by the territorial police at CPS Kampala.
Enanga claims that Kadogo acknowledged being enlisted in the ADF at the age of seven. He then claimed to have escaped the ADF camp in the Congo and made his way back to Uganda.
Enanga stated, “We, the Joint Security Agencies, are actively monitoring all areas for ADF elements and remnants that may be hiding because they continue to pose a threat to Ugandans and foreign visitors to the nation.”
