Uganda Police Urges the Public to Exercise Vigilance and Promptly Report Any Suspicious Activities Within Their Communities
The two recent separate incidents involving explosions are under investigation, with Uganda police urging residents to remain alert, report suspicious activities, and cooperate for community safety.
The law enforcement authorities addressed two distinct incidents in Kampala, eliciting apprehension within the community.
Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Police Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, conveyed in an official statement that these incidents transpired in Nabweru and Makindye during the evening hours of Saturday 2nd December, 2023.
Within the confines of Mayor Zone, Kabalagala Parish, Makindye Division, at approximately 9 pm, an establishment specializing in the preparation of fried chips encountered an occurrence resulting in an explosion.
Fortunately, no loss of life was reported. Mr. Luke Owoyesigyire stated, “Nakasagga Joy, the proprietor, aged 23, sustained minor injuries but is presently in a stable condition. Our specialized teams are actively investigating the origin of the explosion, and updates on the findings will be disseminated expeditiously.”
Concurrently, in Nabweru, the bomb squad and forensic services promptly responded to an explosion reported around 9 pm.
“The detonation transpired within an unoccupied rental unit. Thankfully, no injuries or fatalities were documented. Our team is diligently working to ascertain the root cause of the explosion, and comprehensive information regarding subsequent steps will be disclosed upon completion of the investigations,” elucidated Mr. Owoyesigyire.
While these incidents remain subject to investigation, the Police earnestly implore the general public to exercise vigilance and promptly report any suspicious activities within their communities. Emphasizing the importance of cooperation, the Police underscore that such collaboration is indispensable for upholding the safety and security of our neighbourhoods.
