The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in Charge of Regional Affairs, John Mulimba, hosted a diplomatic meeting with Joe Dashley, Political Counsellor of the British High Commission at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kampala.

The deliberations between the parties were marked by constructive exchanges, with a focus on addressing immediate regional challenges and formulating joint strategies to ensure enduring peace.

Acknowledging the interconnected nature of global security, deliberations encompassed comprehensive approaches to conflict resolution, preventive diplomacy, and collective security measures.

Both parties underscored the imperative of multilateral collaboration, reaffirming their commitment to advancing peace-building endeavors and countering potential threats to regional stability.

Minister Mulimba reiterated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ unwavering commitment to diplomatic endeavors aimed at fostering peace and security. He expressed anticipation for sustained cooperation with international partners to further these noble objectives.

Uganda’s contributions to regional peace have garnered acclaim from various leaders.

Uganda’s hosting of the UN’s regional service center and a peace operations support hub in Entebbe underscores its pivotal role in providing logistical and administrative support to UN missions across Africa.

Moreover, Uganda serves as a venue for conducting peacekeeping training courses for missions and affiliated offices in the region.

Kampala’s pivotal role in nurturing the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) and supporting African Union-led conflict management initiatives is noteworthy.

The deployment and activities of the Ugandan military, including peacekeeping operations, are legislatively anchored in the Ugandan People’s Defense Force (UPDF) Act of 2005.
