On Tuesday 2 May 2023, Capricorn Eagles Quadrangular Series final saw Uganda’s Victoria Pearls overcome a shaky beginning to defeat Namibia by three runs and claim the title of tournament champions.

Capricorn Eagles Quadrangular Series Final:

Uganda – 93/5

Namibia – 90/4

Uganda won by 3 runs.

In extremely challenging conditions, Uganda won the toss and decided to bat. However, they struggled to get going during the powerplay, scoring just 7 runs in just six overs. While Kevin Awino and Proscovia Alako attempted to capitalize on the situation, they were only able to put together a partnership of dots rather than runs, leading to Kevin eventually losing her wicket by run out.

With Immaculate Nakisuyi (25) and Stephanie Nampiina (22 off 11 balls), the Ugandans were able to turn the momentum of the match and register a modest 93/5 in their 20 overs.

In the chase, Namibia stayed in the match up to the last over with 12 runs needed for the win.

The bowling helped Uganda’s Victoria Pearls’ squad to win all four of its matches out of seven and this has to be the team’s biggest asset. Even though they weren’t at their best, Uganda still won the competition.

The girls will need to work on a few skills as they get ready for the World Cup Qualifiers later in the year to make sure their game is tight. In some of the games, the fielding was just average, and strong bowling made batting extremely difficult.
