Unfulfilled Presidential donations overwhelm State House
State House Comptroller, MrsJane Barekye, has revealed that State House is overwhelmed by the numerous Presidential donations, in that even Ministers keep on sending her chits of demands from their areas whenever she is in attendance of Cabinet meetings.
The State House Comptroller, Mrs. Jane Barekye, has disclosed that the State House is so inundated with Presidential gifts that even Ministers continue to chit-demand from their respective regions whenever she attends Cabinet meetings.
Barekye made the remarks while appearing before Parliament’s Presidential Affairs where she was responding to concerns raised by MPs on the numerous Presidential pledges that have remained outstanding for years and are causing problems in their constituencies.
Barekye’s remarks were in response to a question raised by Kazo district woman Member of Parliament Jennifer Muheesi who wondered what solutions State House was putting in place to clear the presidential donations backlog.
It should be recalled that in the 2024/25 national budget, State House sought an additional Shs30Bn for Presidential donations.
Hon. Immaculate Namara, Director of Planning at State House noted that the current presidential donations budget is just a drop in the ocean, compared to the current needs.
Pledging to oblige, State House’s assistant commissioner of planning Immaculate Naamala said, “We shall provide the details because they are readily available. By the time we come to these broad figures, there are back-end excel sheets that we are working with.
However, I must also say that when the auditor was looking at the documents, he looked at the documents that are generated from the Program Budgeting system (PBS) and the PBS is summarized,”
