UPDF Artillery Division Celebrates Graduation of 58 Personnel

The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Artillery Division marked the graduation of 58 personnel from a rigorous training course at Kibuku Training School in Ntoroko District. Presiding over the ceremony, Colonel Jimmy Ssenkungu, Commander of the 101 Artillery Brigade, emphasized discipline, professionalism, and continuous learning. He encouraged the graduates to pursue further training and warned against lifestyle choices that could jeopardize their careers.

The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Artillery Division recently celebrated the graduation of 58 personnel from a demanding training course at Kibuku Training School in Ntoroko District. The pass-out ceremony, led by Colonel Jimmy Ssenkungu, Commander of the 101 Artillery Brigade, emphasised discipline and professionalism in military service.

Addressing the graduates, Col Ssenkungu highlighted the value of rigorous training, stating, “Toil much sweat during training and shed little blood in war.” He urged the officers to pursue advanced courses and refresher training to further develop their skills.

Stressing the importance of physical fitness, he warned against excessive drinking and irresponsible sexual behaviour, which could jeopardise both their careers and personal well-being.

Major Onesmas Kakuru, the Division Political Commissar, advised the graduates on financial discipline. He encouraged them to invest wisely and make prudent use of Wazalendo SACCO loans to secure their futures.

The ceremony also recognised exceptional performers. Major Silver Tushabomwe was awarded best overall graduate, Lieutenant Gideon Nkurunungi excelled in academics, Corporal Mugisha Boney stood out in fieldwork, and Warrant Officer Class One Ojok James was honoured as the most disciplined student.

The event, attended by senior and junior army officers and artillery students, underscored the UPDF’s dedication to fostering professionalism, discipline, and continuous growth within its ranks.
