Members of Parliament from the Uganda People’s Defence Forces donated advanced dental equipment worth UGX 45 million to Dr. Ronald Bata Memorial Hospital, a Special Forces Command facility in Entebbe. The handover, led by Brig. Gen. Charity Bainababo on October 4, 2024, emphasized the importance of providing quality dental care to both military personnel and civilians.
Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Members of Parliament handed over state-of-the-art dental equipment to Dr. Ronald Bata Memorial Hospital, a facility under the Special Forces Command (SFC) in Entebbe. The equipment, valued at UGX 45 million, was donated earlier this year to enhance dental care services at the hospital.
The handover ceremony held last weekend, was led by Brig. Gen. Charity Bainababo, who represented Minister of State for Trade, Gen. Wilson Mbadi, and other MPs including Dr. Victoria Nekesa and Dr. Jennifer Alanyo. Brig. Gen. Bainababo praised the hospital’s efforts in maintaining a clean environment and emphasized that the equipment would benefit both the troops and civilians, stating, “There’s no way the wanainchi would be turned away from accessing such services.”
She highlighted previous contributions by the UPDF Parliamentary Caucus, including the construction of a dormitory at Air Force Senior Secondary School and a laboratory in Gulu Barracks. She pledged continued efforts to improve welfare services for soldiers and their families.
Hon. Dr. Nekesa commended the SFC leadership for expanding the hospital’s infrastructure to boost healthcare delivery. Dr. Alanyo celebrated the donation as a realization of a long-held dream, noting that the equipment would significantly improve dental healthcare for military personnel and their families. She urged the operators to ensure proper maintenance of the machine.

He also thanked President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his vision of establishing hospitals within military formations, bringing services closer to the troops.
Col. Norbert Kabugo, representing Joint Staff Health Services, and Col. John Mango Baraza, Director of Human Resource Management for SFC, echoed their appreciation for the MPs’ contributions, praising their commitment to the welfare of UPDF personnel.
The event was attended by senior and junior officers, as well as hospital staff, reflecting the broad support for improving healthcare in military facilities.
