UPDF Team Kicks Off Recruitment at Akii-Bua Stadium in Lira
The UPDF National recruitment team is at Akii-Bua Stadium to recruit shortlisted candidates who had applied and were shortlisted to join the forces on Sunday 7th July 2024.
On Sunday, July 7, 2024, in Akii-Bua Stadium, the UPDF National Recruitment team will be recruiting shortlisted people who applied and were selected to enlist in the military.
On Monday, July 8th, they will equally recruit from Alebtong and Otuke at Akii-Bua Stadium respectively.
The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Team Six will later proceed to recruit candidates from the districts of Dokolo, Amolatar, Kaberamaido, Kalaki, Apac, Kwania, Oyam, and Oyam districts between July 9th and July 13th, 2024, as per the quotas allotted to each district based on recent census statistics.
Only those who were shortlisted, vetted, and cleared by the team will be considered to join the UPDF.
During the vetting process and verification of their academic documents, five candidates from Lira District were arrested with fake Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) transcripts and fake National Identification Cards. Four candidates from Lira City were also caught with fake UCE result slips and certificates. They were handed over to Lira Central Police Station for further investigation and management.
Participants were later subjected to a physical examination by the medical team to check for any physical deformities, followed by a 2km run in the stadium to assess their physical fitness abilities.
Team Six has completed the recruitment of candidates from Adjumani, Gulu City, Gulu District, Omoro, Nwoya, Amuru, Kitgum, Lamwo, Pader, and Agago districts.
They appeal to leaders in the remaining districts yet to be recruited to organize their candidates and ensure they have all necessary original academic credentials and supporting documents intact for successful vetting.
For transparency, Team Six works closely with district officials during vetting to ensure thorough screening and to avoid any doubts regarding the recruitment process, ensuring that only the right shortlisted candidates are recruited into the UPDF.
An overwhelming number of applicants, including those over the required age limit, professionals, and those lacking the required Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) documents, gathered at the entrance of Akii-Bua Stadium ahead of the recruitment exercise to vie for opportunities.
The recruitment exercise concludes on July 14th, as per the UPDF timetable, according to Capt. Kato Ahmad Hassan, UPDF 4th Infantry Division PIO/Spokesperson for Team Six.
