The United States Mission in Uganda is pleased to announce the commencement of the third season of N*Gen, a continent-wide educational television series centred on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) for children.

The official launch event was held at the premises of Enimiro Products Uganda, a prominent enterprise engaged in vanilla processing and export. This collaborative initiative between the United States government and Peripheral Vision International (PVI) aims to cultivate a profound interest in STEM subjects among children. This will be achieved by showcasing a range of captivating projects related to crucial areas such as health, climate change, wildlife conservation, biodiversity, agriculture, technology systems, and education.

During the launch event, the first episode was screened, featuring insightful perspectives from Ugandan vanilla farmers, dedicated agriculture extension workers, and the advanced vanilla processing facilities. This episode effectively elucidated the intricacies of the vanilla value chain in Uganda in an engaging and child-friendly manner. Moreover, it highlighted the ongoing collaboration between various public and private Ugandan agricultural entities and emphasized the significant contributions of the US government-funded Vines project, which endeavours to position Uganda as the world’s premier supplier of top-quality vanilla.

Addressing the distinguished audience at the launch, the United States Ambassador to Uganda, William W. Popp, underscored the multifaceted support provided by the US government to the Ugandan agricultural sector. He mentioned initiatives like the Vines program and the Farmer-to-Farmer program, which are designed to enhance agricultural capabilities in Uganda. Additionally, Ambassador Popp emphasized the US government’s commitment to engaging Uganda’s youth through programs such as the International Agricultural Education Fellowship Program. These programs facilitate the involvement of US citizens in the establishment of school-based agricultural education and youth extension programs, further strengthening ties between the two nations.

N*Gen, developed by PVI, is a groundbreaking television series centered on science and technology, tailored specifically for African youth. The series actively engages African educators, students, and subject matter experts by showcasing U.S. government-supported projects not only in Uganda but also in various other African countries. These initiatives serve as a testament to the United States Embassy’s dedication to promoting education and scientific exploration across the African continent.
