Vice-President Alupo Secures Continued Support for Uganda’s Development in China
Vice-President Jessica Alupo has emphasized the importance of balanced financing terms in a meeting on September 3, 2024, with the president of the Exim Bank of China at the bank’s headquarters in Beijing, China.

Vice-President Jessica Alupo underscored the importance of equitable financing terms during a meeting held on September 3, 2024, with the President of the Exim Bank of China at the bank’s headquarters in Beijing.
Alupo conveyed her deep appreciation for the ongoing support provided by the bank, particularly towards Uganda’s key infrastructure projects, which she identified as pivotal for the country’s socio-economic transformation.
Earlier that day, Alupo attended the signing of performance agreements between China Construction and Communications Company (CCCC) and three Ugandan coffee companies — Platinum Commodities, New Cafe, and Mwanyi Terimba. These agreements are intended to facilitate the procurement of

Ugandan coffee beans for value addition and brand promotion. The signing ceremony was held at CCCC’s headquarters in Beijing.
In the evening, Vice-President Alupo engaged with Chinese investors, encouraging them to continue their support for Uganda’s infrastructure, industrialization, and digitization initiatives.
She shared these developments on her X (formerly Twitter) account, reflecting on the productive discussions and advocating for continued collaboration between Uganda and China.
Alupo’s visit to Beijing is in conjunction with her participation in the Heads of State Summit at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), where she represents President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Upon her arrival on September 1, 2024, she was received at Beijing Capital Airport by the Chinese Ambassador to Uganda and Uganda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gen. Jeje Odongo.
On September 2, 2024, Alupo also held a bilateral meeting with Han Zheng, Vice President of the People’s Republic of China, at the Diaoyutai State Guest House in Beijing.

Their discussions focused on industrialization, infrastructure, and digitization, with Vice-President Alupo expressing her gratitude for the gracious hospitality extended by the Chinese government and people.
